Xbox One shooter Halo 5: Guardians today welcomes its first free expansion. Called Battle of Shadow and Light, the update introduces the 8v8 Big Team Battle mode and four new Big Team Battle maps, as well as dozens of new Req content.
The maps, all of which are inspired by those seen in previous Halo games and built using Halo 5’s Forge tools, are listed below while you can get a closer look in the image gallery above.
- Deadlock
- Basin
- Guillotine
- Recurve
Battle of Shadow and Light also introduces 48 new Reqs to Halo 5, including new weapons, weapon skins, armor, emblems, and a new “Shove It” assassination. Microsoft warns, however, that Req content may not appear right away, but should be available in Halo 5 “in 24 hours or less.”
The update is the first of “many” free updates that 343 aims launch for Halo 5. Players can look forward to more than 15 free multiplayer maps by next summer, while the Forge tools are coming in December.
