Blizzard has launched a new hero for its multiplayer online battle arena game, Heroes of the Storm. Leoric, the Skeleton King from the Diablo series enters the field as a melee Warrior.
Leoric possesses a Skeletal Swing skill which slows enemies. He can damage enemies to heal himself with Drain Hope, and use Wraith Walk to separate from his body and gain a temporary movement speed buff. His hero trait, Undying, turns him into a Ghost when he dies. If the Ghost regains full health, Leoric is resurrected. However, as a ghost Leoric’s abilities do no damage. His Ultimate abilities are Entomb, which creates an unpathable tomb in front of him for four seconds, or March of the Black King, which when activated has Leoric swing his mace three teams to deal damage and heal himself.
Skeleton King has been released as part of a Diablo-themed event currently taking place in Heroes of the Storm, called Eternal Conflict. He is one of four heroes to be introduced as part of the event, the only remaining hero is the Monk. Blizzard has been coy about how long Eternal Conflict will run, but the developer described it as a “multiweek” event.
Blizzard recently made tweaks to its matchmaking process, which could help to reduce the number of games that matched experienced players with newcomers. For more on Heroes of the Storm, check out the game page for our news, previews of upcoming content, and more.
