Inside Releases on PS4 at "End of August" – Report

Inside, the atmospheric puzzle platformer from Limbo developer Playdead, will be available on PlayStation 4 “at the end of August,” according to VG247, which cites a “trusted source.”

The game was released on Xbox One and PC in late June and received critical acclaim. A PS4 version hasn’t officially been announced by Playdead, but Trophies for the game have also appeared on Exophase.

On July 5 , Playdead suggested that the game would be available on more platforms at some point.

“Our goal is of course to get Inside into the hands of as many gamers as possible,” it told Push Square. “But we can’t say anything about other potential platforms at this point.”

Limbo, the studio’s last game, launched initially as an Xbox 360 exclusive for Xbox Live Arcade. However, it was later released for PC and PS3, and has since become available for PS4, Xbox One, and PlayStation Vita.

In GameSpot’s Inside review, Alex Newhouse awarded it an 8/10.

“This is a beautiful, haunting, and memorable game, a worthy follow-up to Limbo,” he said.

“The real achievement of this game is the way that it crafts its narrative: detailed environments convey the bizarre world that you travel through; introspective moments are filled with minimalist sound design and just the barest touches of music; and the things you must do to complete your journey force you to confront the realities of humanity, freedom, and existence.”

Following the launch of Inside, Playdead’s chief executive, Dino Patti, left the company to “seek new challenges.”

“Following almost 10 incredible years building Playdead from an idea to two dents in the games industry, I’m leaving to seek new challenges,” he said.
