Legendary Quest: Time to Grab the Ring

If you’ve braved the challenges of Draenor, but haven’t yet completed the Legendary ring questline, now is the time to strike! The days are numbered for you to finish this unique adventure, but you have a chance to earn this fantastic prize and an unparalled Follower if you get started immediately and work diligently. Since the final chapter was released with Patch 6.2, some of the steps have been modestly streamlined, especially for alts and all characters who have a lot of Apexis crystals, Garrison Resources, and Oil. For example:

  • Kluk’kluk in Tanaan Jungle offers additional Abrogator Stones for 14,958 Apexis Crystals, weekly.
  • Renegade Ironworker in Tanaan Jungle offers additional Elemental Runes for 20,000 Apexis Crystals, weekly.
  • Several Garrison Missions and Naval Missions reward Abrogator Stones and Elemental Runes. Check your mission tables regularly!

You can do this! Check out Wowhead’s comprehensive guide for more tips on quickly attaining Draenor glory before it’s gone forever, and don’t miss your chance to slip a legend on your finger.

The road ahead is fraught with embers and blood, as it was before—so it goes and ever goes. . . .

You’ve survived a long and dangerous journey thus far on Draenor. One portal has been destroyed within Tanaan Jungle . . . but Gul’dan and the twisted remains of the Iron Horde still strive to open another portal into Azeroth. You’ve allied with powerful forces to counter these nefarious plans, including the Archmage Khadgar. His efforts to fight the rising power of Gul’dan have presented countless new challenges and powerful rewards—but only for those stalwart enough to take on his formidable tasks.

Follow along with us, won’t you, as we walk you through the next—and final—chapter in Warlords of Draenor’s Legendary Ring quest line, culminating in Patch 6.2. And if you’re just getting started—or want to pick up where you left off—we’ve put together a guide of the journey so far.

Call of the Archmage

Khadgar’s Servant will be your first point of contact in your Garrison and will provide the first quest, Call of the Archmage. Archmage Khadgar has set up a tower east of Talador within the Zangarra swamp —your first stop on the road to gaining a powerful new ring. Khadgar will let you know he’s not pleased with the location, but it’s the best he could do on short notice. Cordana Felsong will be the first to welcome you. (She seems nice!)

It’s best not to let Khadgar know if you smell his books becoming a little musty. You might just upset him.

It’s not all on Khadgar to make your new ring a reality—you’re going to have to put in some work, too. Your first task will be to take on the quest Spires of the Betrayer and acquire a Pure Solium Band from High Sage Vyrix high atop Skyreach.

Khadgar’s Task

All powerful rings take time and Khadgar’s Task is just one step of many to acquiring a band of truly legendary power. Khadgar has a few things to tell you while he works on creating a starter ring—mainly, he’s concerned with Gul’dan and wants you to help flush him out by hitting him right in the lieutenants.

6-2Legendary_WoW_ThumbL05_JM_550x200.jpg

You’ll be asked to travel to a trio of dungeons: Bloodmaul Slag Mines and acquire a Core of Flame from Gug’rock; Grimrail Depot for a Core of Iron; and The Everbloom for the Core of Life from Yalnu. Succeed, and you’ll receive an epic ring with an item level of 640.

Draenor’s Secret Power

Khadgar wants to upgrade your ring but he needs something more from you in order to enhance its power. He’s done the math and needs 4986 Apexis Crystals —no more, no less— to unlock Draenor’s Secret Power.

Once you’ve completed this task, Khadgar is almost ready to work his magic . . . but first he wants you to complete a couple of more tasks. You’ve got time, right? Sure you do!

Tackling Teron’gor

Exarch Maladaar has sent news that Shadow Council agents have infiltrated Auchindoun. Now Khadgar wants you to go about Tackling Teron’gor to remove him from the field of play. While you’re at it, he wants a vial of the Corrupted Blood of Teron’gor so he can track down more of the Shadow Council—including Gul’dan.

Once Teron’gor is defeated Khadgar thinks he’ll be able to zone in on Gul’dan, sending you on the quest Eyes of the Archmage— but the warlock proves elusive and manages to stay hidden. Khadgar is going to need a bit more power to increase his range, and he thinks he knows how to do it.

Fugitive Dragon

It’s not a legendary quest if you don’t go hunting dragons, right? In this case Khadgar knows a bronze dragon had to be the one to free Garrosh Hellscream and bring him to Draenor. A Fugitive Dragon from Azeroth, Kairozdormu is in the Archmage’s sights but Khadgar knows it’s going to take more than just the two of you to get the job done. So it's off to Nagrand to meet up with him and everyone’s favorite bronze dragon, Chromie.

With Chromie’s help you’ll start the quest The Dragon’s Tale to track down Kairozdormu. Finding him isn’t the difficult part, though, as your party is quick to learn that upon reaching Draenor, Garrosh killed his savior but didn’t quite finish the job. Kairoz’s spirit is still restless, and in the quest, Tarnished Bronze, it's time to fight him to claim what remains of his power and finish what Garrosh started.

You’ll need to pick which role you’re going to fulfill in your small party in order to work together to defeat him. Once this quest is completed you’ll earn the achievement, Chapter I: Call of the Archmage.

Chapter II: Gul’dan Strikes Back
Complete Khadgar’s legendary Highmaul raid quests and save his life when things take a turn for the worse.

Power Unleashed

6-2Legendary_WoW_ThumbL07_JM_550x200.jpg

With part one of the job done, it’s time to return to the tower to complete the quest Power Unleashed and reap your reward: an upgraded, item level 680 ring. You’ll also have some new tasks ahead of you. It’s time to begin taking on more dangerous foes within Highmaul. You’ll be asked to acquire a felbreaker’s tome from Imperator Mar’gok’s felbreaker captain and acquire a sigil from Mar’gok in the quest Empire’s Fall.

The tome seems blank at first but with the use of the sigil, Khadgar is able to learn more— including the next steps you’ll need to thwart Gul’dan. In Legacy of the Sorcerer Kings, you’ll be tasked with collecting 125 Abrogator Stones, which Khadgar can use to break through Gul’dan’s veil of secrecy.

6-2Legendary_WoW_ThumbL02_JM_550x200.jpg

Once you’ve turned in the stones, you’ll need to speak with Khadgar to receive the next quest, The Scrying Game to locate Gul’dan. You’ll also need to track down Garona in a merry little chase around Khadgar’s tower in the quest, Hunter: Hunted until you manage to corner her in a cave and capture her. She’s not going to be happy with you, but Khadgar will, granting the Touch of the Kirin-Tor and your ring upgrade (item level 690). You’ll also receive the achievement Chapter II: Gul’dan Strikes Back.

Chapter III: The Foundry Falls
Complete Khadgar’s legendary quests within the Blackrock Foundry until the Iron Horde is on the run!

It’s time to move on into the Blackrock Foundry with the quest Might of the Elemental Lords. Khadgar wants to know more about the Blackrock clan’s alliance with creatures of fire and stone within the foundry, and to do so, he’ll need you to assemble three Elemental Tablets created out of fused Elemental Runes. Once you have them, he’ll also use their power to enhance your ring even more to item level 715 when you complete the quest The Unbroken Circle.

While you’re in Blackrock Foundry, you’ll also be able to take on the quest, Blackhand’s Secret to find a way to free Garona from Gul’dan’s influence and gain her as a Legendary Follower. With Blackhand’s arm in hand (*cough – sorry*), you'll embark on your next quest, Prisoner of the Mind, in which you’ll need to protect Khadgar as he works his spell on Garona.

Afterward, he will send you to the Den of Secrets in Shadowmoon for two more quests, The Shadow War and Orb of Dominion. It’s really quite practical. He needs the Orb of Dominion to free Garona, and while you’re there, you can do a little house cleaning on the Shadow Council, who has been working to infiltrate the Draenei Exarch Council in the nearby town.

With the completion of the Might of the Elemental Lords quest and Blackhand’s Secret quest, you’ll earn the achievement Chapter III: The Foundry Falls.

Breaking Badness

It’s time to set Garona free and now that you’ve brought back the Orb of Dominion, Khadgar’s ready to do just that. It’s a good idea to keep on your toes for anything that might break free from Garona. (Really… you’ve been warned.)

Once you’ve defeated the evil within Garona, it’s time for the quest To Gul’dan where you learn from Garona where Gul’dan is headed next: Bladefury’s Command in northern Talador. In the quest An Inside Job, you'll infiltrate this fortress with Garona's help, relying on her specialized talents as an assassin and spy. Once this quest is complete, you’ll speak with Garona to complete My Garona and have her join your ranks of Followers at your Garrison.

Patch 6.2: Chapter IV: Darkness Incarnate

Acquire your legendary ring by completing Khadgar’s quests.

The Final Assault

The campaign on Draenor has been taxing and perilous, but there’s more that needs to be done. In the quest The Final Assault, you’re asked to head back to your Garrison to await further instructions from Archmage Khadgar. Ominous news is spreading that Gul’dan has taken over what remains of the Iron Horde—as if history is doomed to repeat itself despite the valiant efforts of the Horde and the Alliance forces. To face this evolving threat, you’ll need to ready yourself to go back to Tanaan Jungle.

6-2Legendary_WoW_ThumbL14_JM_550x200.jpg

You’re going to need a bigger boat to get to Tanaan, and are soon tasked to build a Shipyard in your Garrison to get you there. You’ll also be able to build a fleet and send ships out on missions to help turn the tide of the war.

Khadgar will meet you at your new dock to explain the next steps to earning your ring and putting a stop to Gul’dan’s nefarious machinations. First, you’ll need to work on Upgrading your shipyard to Level 2 and then take on legendary shipyard missions until you earn the draenic sea chart. Khadgar also wants you to venture into Hellfire Citadel within the heart of Tanaan Jungle for the quest We Don’t Need No Library Card, which tasks you with collecting Tomes of Chaos.

6-2Legendary_WoW_ThumbL13_JM_550x200.jpg

Once you’ve collected the tomes, it’s time to start Cooking the Books—or at least it would be if Cordana would cooperate and burn them as she should. Sometimes, if you want to get something done though, you’ve got to do it yourself. You’ll have to fight Cordana to stop her from keeping the books and taking your precious, precious ring.

6-2Legendary_WoW_ThumbS10_JM_270x130.jpg 6-2Legendary_WoW_ThumbS12_JM_270x130.jpg

Once Cordana is defeated, Alliance characters will meet with Yrel to receive K’ara’s blessing, and Horde characters will meet with Drek’thar to receive a blessing of the elements. You’ll also receive your shiny new Legendary ring. You’re going to need it if you're going to take on Hellfire Citadel.
