Leonard Nimoy Passes Away at 83

Leonard Nimoy, the actor best known for his role as Spock in Star Trek, died Friday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 83. The New York Times has a full obituary for the actor.

His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed his passing. She said the cause of death was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Nimoy had been hospitalized earlier in the week.

Nimoy played Spock in the original Star Trek series in the 1960s, later appearing in–and directing–some of the 1980s Star Trek movies. He also had a small role in J.J. Abrams’ 2009’s Star Trek reboot.

The actor’s film and TV credits are numerous. Some might also remember him from a memorable episode of The Simpsons, the 1997 classic “The Springfield Files.”

Nimoy also did voicework for video games such as Seaman and Civilization IV.

His final tweet is beautiful.

A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP
