Nintendo has given us a lot of new information about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild today, and we’ve been able to watch a good amount of footage from the game. We’ve seen many elements in it, such as cooking, combat, and exploration. Nintendo also showed off a pretty awesome skill that Link has in the game: the ability to snowboard down a mountain on his shield.
Link’s cool boarding moves were shown off during the Nintendo Treehouse stream this morning. During one gameplay section, Link drifts down through the air using a hang glider and then, as he approaches the ground, he jumps onto his shield and begins to shred. In addition to looking cool, is seems like an efficient and easy way to descend down some of the tall mountains in the game. You can see the action in the gif below (excuse the green tint).
This is not Link’s first time on a snowboard, though. In Twilight Princess, he could ride a board as well.
In addition Nintendo talked about some other aspects of the game. For example, in a conversation with GameSpot, producer Eiji Aonuma explained why Breath of the Wild will not have a female hero, clarified why Link is a right-handed character now, and confirmed that the NX and Wii U versions will be the same.
