Listen To This Epic 17-Minute, 38-Song Metal Tribute to Video Games

It’s already been a good week for fans of metal music and video games, and it’s getting even better as we head into the weekend. YouTube user FamilyJules7x has posted (via Kotaku) an epic 17-minute, 38-song tribute to video game music called “Replay: A Metal Tribute to the History of Video Games.”

He spent over three years working on the medley, and it does not disappoint. The medley features metal renditions of music from games throughout the ages, including Pong, Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, World of Warcraft, Mass Effect 2, and The Last of Us.

The guitars (Gibson Explorer, PRS SE Custom 7 String, Schecter Damien FR, Cordoba C7) and bass guitar (Ibanez Soundgear SR405QM) were recorded live, while he used a virtual drumkit (Toontrack Superior Drummer) to lay down the beats. Everything was arranged and performed by FamilyJules7x, though of course he didn’t compose the music.
