Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for the PlayStation 4 will not have a Platinum Trophy available for players to unlock, series creator Hideo Kojima said on Twitter today. The reason? Sony doesn’t allow Platinum Trophies for budget-priced games, he said.
“The reason GZ doesn’t have Platinum Trophy in PS4 is due to SONY’s regulation,” Kojima said. “They won’t allow us to have them for non-full price game.” Presumably, the PlayStation 3 version of Ground Zeroes also will not have a Platinum Trophy.
The physical and digital versions of Ground Zeroes on PS4 will sell for $30.
The news is no doubt a disappointment for Ground Zeroes players hoping to add another Platinum Trophy–the highest rated achievement for PlayStation titles–to their warchests.
Ground Zeroes launches tomorrow, March 18, for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PS4. For more, check out GameSpot’s previous coverage.
