New Dragon Quest Game Draws Inspiration From Minecraft

Square Enix has announced Dragon Quest: Builders, a new offshoot of its long-running role-playing franchise.

Although Square Enix has not provided any details for the game, its official website, which features a single screenshot alongside a logo, reveals that it seems to be inspired by Minecraft.

The image features a mixture of the series’ iconic Akira Toriyama-esque character art and Minecraft’s material blocks. As the title implies, the game is likely to revolve around building.

Additionally, Dragon Quest: Builders looks to be exclusive to Sony consoles, for now, as only PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita logos are featured on the site.

Square Enix had an eventful E3, showcasing key upcoming projects such as Just Cause 3, which developer Avalanche Studios is targeting for release on December 1 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The big news, however, was the announcement of a full Final Fantasy VII Remake, while Kingdom Hearts 3 was also showcased with a new gameplay trailer showing Sora and company fighting off Heartless in a variety of different environments.

Finally, IO Interactive revealed a gameplay trailer for the new Hitman that goes over the process of an assassination contract. The game is confirmed to release on December 8, 2015.
