Today at Comic-Con, Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot revealed a new poster for the 2017 standalone film, and it’s pretty striking.
It shows Wonder Woman, sword in hand, and hair flying backwards against the wind. There is also a tagline: “Power. Grace. Wisdom. Wonder.”
Wonder Woman opens on June 2, 2017 and is directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster). Gadot stars as the Amazonian princess turned superhero, alongside Chris Pine, Robin Wright, and Danny Huston. You can see some images from the film here.
That film won’t be the only one featuring Wonder Woman in 2017. Gadot will also appear in November 2017’s Justice League as the iconic superhero.
Gadot recently talked about how the weather conditions for the film’s London shoot were not always comfortable, especially during a scene in which she stands on top of a tall building. “It was such an important moment,” she said. “Even though the weather was not cooperating, I had to deal with it. It was cold. My ovaries froze.”
Meanwhile, Jenkins spoke about the reason it has taken so long for a Wonder Woman movie to finally be made. “I think part of the reason Wonder Woman hasn’t happened [until now] is because the right way to do it is as a classic origin story,” she said. “People were afraid to do it with a woman, and now they are less so.
“The natural spirit of Gal is Wonder Woman. She’s so kind, so good, so beautiful, and capable of being sexy, but not in a way that makes other women uncomfortable. It’s what Wonder Woman should be.”
In other recent Wonder Woman news, the United States Postal Service has announced a series of stamps that show off the character across the eras. They are being released in October to celebrate her 75th anniversary.
