[Update]Sony has confirmed the PlayStation 4 version of Journey will be released on July 21. The re-release will support cross buy, which means those that purchased it already for PlayStation 3 will be able to download the PS4 version for free.[update ends].
Last August, developer thatgamecompany announced that it was bringing its PlayStation 3-exclusive game Journey to the PlayStation 4. Now, the game’s PS4 release date has been apparently leaked as July 21.
Found in the PlayStation E3 Experience guide on the PlayStation Docs website, the game page for Journey shows the date as coming later this month. The guide breaks down the different games appearing at E3, and it looks like the release date for Journey was probably published by mistake.
The PS4 port of Journey will be pretty similar to the PS3 version, but the game will run at 1080p and 60 frames per second. It was announced back at the Gamescom conference last year.
When it originally launched on the PS3 in 2012, Journey was met with critical and commercial acclaim. It was the fastest-selling PlayStation Network game ever at the time, and it currently sits at a 92 on Metacritic. GameSpot gave it a 9, and you can read our review here.
Sony hasn’t commented on this leak, yet, but we will update this story if the company clarifies.
