PS4’s Morpheus VR Headset Coming to GameStop Expo

GameStop Expo attendees this year will be able to see the future–kind of.

The retailer on Wednesday announced a partnership with Sony to bring the company’s PlayStation 4 virtual reality headset to the public convention.

Attendees will be able to try out a “large array” of Morpheus game demos, though none were named outright. Morpheus was available to demo at E3 last month, but it has been rarely seen at public events, making its appearance at GameStop Expo particularly noteworthy.

“Having experienced virtual reality with Project Morpheus at E3 this year, I can confidently say that this is something that truly must be seen to be believed,” GameStop director of merchandising Eric Bright said in a statement.

The consumer version of Project Morpheus launches in the first half of 2016. Pricing has not yet been announced because, according to Sony, it’s “too early” to talk about that.

The 2015 Gamestop Expo takes place Wednesday, September 2, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, featuring more than 250,000 square feet of demo booths and more.

Confirmed attendees so far include industry heavyweights such as Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Warner Bros, and Take-Two..

Tickets start at $40 and are available to buy now through the event’s website.
