Resident Evil 5 on PS4/Xbox One Has Multiple Issues, Frame Rate Drops

Resident Evil 5 currently has some issues that players are experiencing on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Players have reported frame rate drops, in addition to glitches with some of the game modes and the second player’s inventory screen.

Reddit user Mightylordredbeard posted a screenshot of a DM they sent the Resident Evil Twitter account. They mentioned the frame rate drops and Player 2’s inability to manage their inventory–some players have reported that Player 2 can’t buy or upgrade weapons in between chapters, either. The Resident Evil Twitter account said Capcom was aware of the issues and is “working on it.” We’ve contacted Capcom directly to confirm and will update this article as we receive more information.

Another reported issue concerns the Versus, Survivors, and Team Survivors modes, where players can lose their primary weapon and leave themselves defenseless.

Resident Evil released on PS4 and Xbox One last week. It originally launched on Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2009.

In GameSpot’s review, critic Lark Anderson scored it an 8.5 and said, “Though the slow, deliberate movement and shooting may not appeal to everyone, this new sequel’s frequent large-scale battles and co-op play still offer a fun and exciting adventure.”

Resident Evil 5 is the second Resident Evil game to be released on the current generation of platforms this year. Resident Evil 6 landed in March, while Resident Evil 4 is slated for release fall 2016.

Resident Evil 7 releases next year, but if you subscribe to PlayStation Plus, you can check out its demo on the PS4. It’s not part of the full game, but it does give an example of what the next Resident Evil game focuses on: horror. GameSpot got the opportunity to talk to producer Masachika Kawata about what the full game will actually be like. Kawata also mentioned that he wasn’t happy about Silent Hills/PT’s cancellation.
