Riot Games, Activision Blizzard Featured on Best Workplace List

Business-focused magazine Fortune has published its list of “100 Best Companies to Work For” and two gaming companies are among the firms that made the cut. The two companies are League of Legends developer Riot Games and Call of Duty and World of Warcraft company Activision Blizzard

Inside of Riot Games

Riot Games, which landed at No. 39 this year, said in a blog post that the recognition “means a lot to us” but added that “we know we’ll always have more work to do.”

This is the second straight year that Riot has landed on Fortune‘s list.

Activision Blizzard landed at No. 77. Here is what CEO Bobby Kotick had to say about the recognition in a statement.

Fortune’s recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects how our employees feel about the culture we’ve built together,” Kotick said. “Everything we do starts with our employees’ talent, inspired creativity, and commitment to excellence. They are the reason why Activision Blizzard is a great place to work.”

Activision Blizzard said the “vast majority” of survey respondents said Activision Blizzard is a “friendly, fair, and fun workplace where they can be themselves, and that they’re proud to tell others they work here.”

Both Riot and Activision Blizzard are currently hiring.

Sitting at the top of Fortune‘s list this year was Google. The company has topped the list seven times in ten years. You can see the full list of the “Top 100 Best Companies to Work For” here.

Fortune identifies the best companies to work by working with Great Place to Work for an employee survey, two thirds of which is based on what’s called a Trust Index Employee Survey. This is sent to a random sample of employees and asks them to answer questions about their attitudes regarding management credibility, job satisfaction, and internal camaraderie.

The final third is based on what’s called a Culture Audit, which covers pay and benefit programs, as well as diversity efforts, employee recognition programs, hiring methods, and internal communication, among other elements.
