The screenplay for Ubisoft’s upcoming Rabbids movie will be written by Robot Chicken writers Matthew Senreich, Tom Sheppard, and Zeb Wells. That’s according to sources speaking to Variety today, who also reveal that the film will combine live-action and stop-motion. Robot Chicken is a stop-motion program.
Senreich, Sheppard, and Wells have all won Emmys for Robot Chicken. They definitely seem like a fitting team to take on the similarly zany Rabbids franchise, in which rabbit creatures go crazy and get into all kinds of trouble and hijinks.
Variety also reports that Robot Chicken animation studio Stoopid Buddy Stoodios will serve as a producing partner for the Rabbids movie. The other partners are Ubisoft Motion Pictures and Sony Pictures.
No release date has been announced for the Rabbids movie. We also don’t know anything about the movie’s plot or which actors/voice actors might appear in it.
This is just one of many movies currently in production based on an Ubisoft franchise. The most high-profile of which is the Assassin’s Creed film starring Michael Fassbender, which has now started production. In addition, Ubisoft is making Far Cry, Watch Dogs, and Splinter Cell movies, among others.
