See Destiny’s New Multiplayer Mode in Action on Saturday

Bungie recently announced a new Destiny multiplayer mode called “Rift,” which comes to the game through its upcoming Taken King expansion. We’ve heard all about how it works. But what does it look like in action? We’ll find out this coming Saturday, as part of a special Red Bull livestream.

On August 22, at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT, professional player Mike “Flamesword” Chaves will compete in the first-ever PvP exhibition for Rift. The event will be hosted by Bungie’s David “Deej” Dague and designer Lars Bakken, and other Destiny community members will also attend.

Flamesword will compete against other Destiny community members, including Holtzmann, nKuch, Datto, Mtashed, KJHovey, Clout, FizZoR, and tripleWRECK. The event will be broadcast live from Red Bull eSports Studio in Santa Monica, while you can catch the livestream through the Red Bull Twitch channel.

This event is an extension of the existing close relationship between Destiny and Red Bull. As announced previously, there will be a mission in The Taken King that’s playable (right away at least) only for people who buy a specially marked Red Bull can.

In other Destiny news, Bungie held an hour-long video broadcast this week where it made a ton of announcements and revealed more Taken King content. For everything you need to know, check out this roundup. The Taken King launches on September 15 across all platforms.
