Not content with one special-edition Monster Hunter X-themed 3DS system, Japan is now getting a second.
Nintendo has revealed a Monster Hunter X New 3DS set for release in November. The New 3DS is the version of the system that can be customized with swappable faceplates; this particular one comes with nice-looking MHX faceplates that will also be sold separately. It also includes an AC adapter (not a given with the 3DS) and a 4 GB microSDHC card, but not the game itself.
The previously announced MHX 3DS is the New 3DS XL, which doesn’t support faceplates. That means you’re stuck with the red design it sports, though you also get the benefit of larger screens.
Like that system, the newly announced MHX New 3DS will be available in Japan alongside the game on November 28. It’s priced at 17,000 yen (about $142), while the faceplates alone cost 2,000 yen ($17).
There’s no word on an international release for any of this, but with the New 3DS now officially on the way to North America, there’s nothing to stop you from importing the faceplates and slapping them on your system.
The New 3DS arrives in the United States on September 25, while Monster Hunter X doesn’t yet have a date outside of Japan.
