Sons of Anarchy Spinoff in the Works – Reports

The FX biker-drama Sons of Anarchy is getting its own spinoff, according to reports today from Entertainment Weekly and The Hollywood Reporter. Sons of Anarchy, created by Kurt Sutter, wrapped up last year after seven seasons. The season finale drew 9.2 million viewers.

Both publications report that the untitled spinoff, which has not yet been confirmed but even the Sons of Anarchy Facebook page is talking about it, will focus on the Mayans Motorcycle Club. That group played a major part in the original series; Emilio Rivera played the Mayans’ leader, Marcus Alvarez.

Sutter’s level of involvement with the rumored Sons of Anarchy spinoff is unclear. He is currently quite busy with his medieval drama, The Bastard Executioner, which he created, writes for, and directs.

EW reports that Sutter will executive produce the spinoff, and is currently searching for a showrunner.

Casting details for the Sons of Anarchy spinoff are not yet available, and again, the show is only in the preliminary stages of development. If it does move forward, it will be produced for FX by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.
