South Park has been renewed.
Comedy Central announced on Wednesday that it has ordered 30 more episodes of the longrunning animated TV show created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The renewal, which lasts through the end of the 23rd season in 2019, will see South Park cross 300 episodes.
Parker and Stone will write and direct every episode, Comedy Central said in a press release (via Variety).
“Nearly two decades later, South Park today remains as important and influential as any series on any platform and has become one of the most recognizable brands to ever come out of television,” Comedy Central owner Viacom executive Doug Herzog said.
Herzog added that Viacom will “aggressively expand” the reach of South Park beyond just the TV show by way of new licensing deals across the globe. At E3 2015, Parker and Stone appeared on stage during Ubisoft’s briefing to reveal the next game in the South Park series, called The Fractured But Whole.
South Park‘s 19th season, meanwhile, kicks off September 16.
