Spider-Man Actor on What Will Set Him Apart in Captain America: Civil War

As exciting as last week’s Captain America: Civil War trailer was, there was one notable omission–Spider-Man. Although the wall-crawling hero is expected to appear in the film in advance of his own movie in 2017, we are yet to see him within the context of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But now actor Tom Holland has spoken about taking on the character and his part in the film.

In an interview with Superhero Hype, Holland discussed what would set Spidey apart from the other heroes in the movie, which focuses upon the fallout from the Superhuman Registration Act. “I think one of the most interesting things about Peter Parker for us is that he’s the only person in the MCU now that has a secret identity, so we all know who everyone else is,” he said. “I think it’s quite interesting to go back to that hiding behind a mask.”

Holland went on to talk about coming into such an established series of movies, alongside actors who have worked together for several years. “I guess they’re such easy people,” he said. “Robert [Downey Jr] did my first screen test and he was so welcoming. He took me aside and gave me a little advice about the audition. I’m really excited to get to work and be a part of that universe.”

Finally, Holland confirmed that Spider-Man, whichbegins production next year, would shoot predominantly in the same location as Civil War. “We’re shooting in Atlanta for most of it, because they have studios there and I think it’s cheaper to build a New York set than it is to shoot here, because it’s going to be very expensive,” he said. “We probably will end up [in New York] for one week or two.”

Captain America: Civil War will be released on May 6, 2016. It stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Rudd.
