Xbox.com listing says Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon won’t require Far Cry 3 in order to play.
The heavily rumoured but currently unannounced Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon will be a standalone title released in May, an updated listing on Xbox.com suggests.
At the end of last week a series of Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon screenshots appeared on Xbox.com, but an updated description for the game now says “Playing Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon doesn’t require a copy of Far Cry 3.”
The game’s description also suggests that it will feature a neon-tinged take on the series’ open-world traversal, and star ubiquitous 80s action movie star Michael Biehn as protagonist Rex Colt.
“Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is THE Kick-Ass Cyber Shooter taking place on a bizarre open-world island crawling with evil,” reads the description.
“Welcome to an 80’s VHS vision of the future. The year is 2007 and you are Sargent Rex Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando whos fighting against a cyborg army gone rogue. Your mission: get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world. Experience every cliché of a VHS era vision of a nuclear future, where cyborgs, blood dragons, mutants, and Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals) collide.”
The listing also states that the game will be released on Wednesday May 1.
Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon first appeared as a listing in the Brazilian classification ratings group at the start of March. Ubisoft also showed a teaser site for the game on April 1.
