The Public Test Realm recently closed its doors and we’re happy to announce that we’ve just released StarCraft II Patch 2.1. Don’t worry if you haven’t been able to keep up with the latest announcements surrounding the patch, because we’ve got all of the exciting details you’ll need to get caught up right here.
Before we get started, we’d also like to extend our thanks to all of you who participated in PTR testing as we approached Patch 2.1 release. Your constructive input is always valuable and helps us make our additions to StarCraft II even better.
Patch 2.1 Additions
Free ArcadeThe Arcade, custom games, and all three StarCraft II races are now completely free-to-play for all players.
Clans and GroupsCreate events to schedule Clan or Group meet-ups and upload custom images to help differentiate your club on Battle.net.
Extension ModsExtension Mods allow you to play your favorite StarCraft II mods on any melee map found in the Custom Games list.
League BoundariesWe've changed how ladder league boundaries are determined so that we can more closely match the percentage of players in each league with our intended values.
More Levels, New RewardsWe've increased the level cap and worked with Jonathan Burton of Carbot Animations to create new leveling rewards.
Re-mastered StarCraft SoundtrackWe’ve re-mastered the classic StarCraft and Brood War soundtracks and made them available for play in StarCraft II.
