The new Super Smash Bros. for 3DS launched in Japan over the weekend, and with it, an unfortunate bug that causes a temporary ban for scoundrels who would dare to play as Peach.

An online mode called For Glory puts some severe restrictions on how matches play out. Whereas For Fun mode allows for all of the game’s items and levels to be played, For Glory matches take place on the Final Destination level (or one of its variations based on other stages) with all items removed.

Nintendo apparently forgot to account for the fact that Peach can, like in past games, pull turnips out of the ground to use as weapons. As a result, Kotaku reports that players have been mistakenly banned from online play temporarily, regardless of whether or not they chose to put the turnip to use in For Glory.

The company has acknowledged this in a note it published on its Japanese website today. It apologized for the mistake and said it’s working on an update that will resolve the problem, though that will unfortunately take about a week to get out to players.

If you haven’t already gotten access to it through the use of a special code, a demo of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS will be released in North America later this week. The full game will then be released on October 3, followed by the Wii U version later this year–reportedly in November.
