This month’s San Diego Comic-Con isn’t only going to serve as the host for new gameplay footage for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Nintendo announced today that it will hold the first-ever Super Smash Bros. 3DS tournament at the event as well.
The tournament will take place on July 25 at the Nintendo Gaming Lounge at the Marriott Marquis & Marina, which is located directly adjacent to the San Diego Convention Center.
If you think you’re worthy, you can visit the lounge starting at noon that day to take part in a preliminary round in which groups of four players will duke it out. The winner moves on, and eventually the top two players will meet in the finals for a one-on-one showdown.
Tournament slots are said to be “limited,” so if you do want to participate, you should show up early. If you can’t make it to the event itself, the tournament will be streamed live on Nintendo’s Twitch channel.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS–which runs at 60fps–launches October 3, while the Wii U version arrives sometime this holiday season. Nintendo held a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament at E3 last month.
In other Super Smash Bros. news, game director Masahiro Sakurai today shared an image of Mario wearing an American Flag-themed outfit. Looks pretty awesome, but it would have made more sense to show this on the 4th of July, you’d have to think.
