The Dark Below Required for Some Destiny Daily Strikes

Some of Destiny‘s Daily and Weekly Strikes will no longer be available to all fans by default, Activision has confirmed.

Since its launch, Bungie’s blockbuster sci-fi FPS has offered all users the chance to accrue loot and other items by taking part in various daily and weekly challenges. These are usually custom missions from the main game, with certain stipulations such as enhanced difficulty.

But because Destiny’s main story missions have now expanded with The Dark Below DLC, fans have noticed that some of the daily and weekly challenges are now associated with this new content. As a result, they are now unable to play these challenges if they do not pay for the DLC.

Publisher Activision has confirmed this new stipulation, but suggested that such exclusions would not be a permanent fixture.

“Specific activities like nightfall will periodically feature expansion 1 content on the week the newest content is live,” the corporation told GameSpot.

It added: “New public events, updated weapons and gear, new bounties, and of course the steady stream of updates are all available without additional cost to all players.”

The Dark Below, Destiny’s first expansion, shipped across North America and Europe on Tuesday. Early details of the new content, priced at $20 (£20), can be found here.
