The Revenant and The Martian are Big Winners at Golden Globes

The Revenant has triumphed at the Golden Globe awards, winning three of the top prizes. The acclaimed survival thriller won best dramatic film, while its star Leonardo DiCaprio and director Alejandro González Iñárritu also took home prizes.

DiCaprio won a Globe for the third time, collecting the award for best actor in a drama. The sci-fi smash The Martian won best comedy or musical film, with Matt Damon also winning for his lead performance. Brie Larson won best actress in a drama for Room, and Jennifer Lawrence collected yet another award, her performance in Joy securing her the best comedy actress prize.

Elsewhere, veteran action star Sylvester Stallone won for his supporting performance in the Rocky spinoff Creed. Pixar’s Inside Out claimed best animated feature, and legendary composer Ennio Morricone won for his score to Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.

The Golden Globe winners are voted by members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Together with the British BAFTAs, they are seen as an indicator of what might triumph at the Academy Awards next month.
