If you need something to tide you over until Pokemon Sun / Moon and have already played all the core games in the series, then some games hitting the Wii U Virtual Console this week might be able to hold your interest.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, Blue Rescue Team, and Explorers of Sky are all set to launch for the Wii U on Thursday, June 23, according to Nintendo’s website. The three Pokemon games originally released on Game Boy Advance and DS.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team received a score of 5.4 in GameSpot’s review, which said, “It may contain plenty of recognizable Pokémon creatures and incorporate some of the franchise’s key concepts, but it’s nowhere near as diverse, slick, or fun as the canonical Pokémon role-playing games.” Blue Rescue Team received a slightly lower score of 5.2 in its review.
Explorers of Sky, on the other hand, does not have a review on GameSpot. It’s an enhanced version of the Explorers of Time/Darkness games, which both received scores of 6.5 in their reviews.
Earlier this year, we saw the re-release of the original Pokemon games–Red, Blue, and Yellow–on the 3DS. It was part of the series’ 20th anniversary celebrations and sold more than 1.5 million copiesold.
