This year’s EA Sports UFC featured martial arts legend Bruce Lee (who never actually fought competitively) as a playable character, but who might appear in a new entry in the series? UFC president Dana White says in a new interview with that he would “absolutely” put iconic actor/fighter Chuck Norris in a future game.
The revelation came as part of a TSN segment (above) where White was asked to give a Gladiator-style thumbs-up or thumbs-down verdict for a range of fighters–fictional and real. Here’s how he voted.
- Chuck Norris — Yes
- Kareem Abdul Jabbar – No
- Trinity from The Matrix – No
- Genghis Khan – No
- Hercules (either Arnold Schwarzenegger or The Rock’s version) – Yes, but only for The Rock
- Mitsuyo Maeda – Yes
Of course, you shouldn’t take White’s verdicts as the final say on the matter Though White no doubt has some pull in the matter (he was instrumental in bringing Lee to this year’s game, after all), his comments in this funny segment shouldn’t serve as a total confirmation one way or the other for any of the fighters mentioned here.
In addition, no new EA Sports UFC game has been announced for 2015. However, when EA took over the UFC brand from THQ in 2012, the publisher said its partnership with the UFC was to span multiple years and multiple titles, making another EA Sports UFC game very likely.
EA Sports UFC launched last month for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. For more, check out GameSpot’s review and what other critics are saying.
