A representative from Electronic Arts responded to this story saying: “The message on EA’s Help site was posted in error. Players with questions about PS4 connectivity can visit https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5102 for the latest updates.”
The original story appears below
In a post on the official Electronic Arts help forums (which has subsequently been unpublished), the publisher claimed that the recent firmware update for PlayStation 4 has resulted in “stability issues while playing games on the system.”
Earlier this morning, Sony asked for patience in the face of some connection issues due to high levels of traffic. However, the post from Electronic Arts claimed that the problems caused by the 1.5 update “affect all games on the PS4, including EA titles, causing crashing/freezing and non-responsive connections between the player’s console and their TV Screen.”
Since this is an issue caused by the hardware’s firmware, the blog says, “Sony is working to resolve the issue as quickly as they can.” While GameSpot has not experienced any significant issues with either the network or games on the PlayStation Network, we’ve reached out to other publishers to see if their titles have experienced similar issues.
We’ll update this story as more details are available.
