AMD has posted a video showing off Ashes of the Singularity, a new real-time strategy game from developer Oxide publisher Stardock.
The graphics card manufacturer is posting the video to its YouTube channel because it also shows off Oxide’s groundbreaking Nitrous Engine, which takes advantage of AMD’s low-level Mantle graphics API.
The engine, in combination with Mantle, allows Ashes of the Singularity to display thousands of units on the screen at the same time while maintaining a steady framerate. As principal graphics architect at Oxide Games Dan Baker said, this allows you to experience an entire war as opposed to just a single battle.
Ashes of the Singularity is set in a future in which a galaxy-wide war between an artificial intelligence and a post-human race rages across the Milky Way. You can find out more about the game’s tech and lore on its official website.
