Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice finally hits cinemas this weekend–but there’s always time for another trailer. An extended TV spot was revealed during the latest episode of Gotham, and features quite a bit of new footage. Check it out below:
Dawn of Justice sees Ben Affleck make his debut as Batman. Speaking to the Telegraph this week, the actor explained why he took on such a familiar role. “I wouldn’t have done it if it was just arbitrarily some superhero movie,” he admitted. “But this is a very different kind of Batman. It’s not the straight ahead origin story of Batman where his parents die and he puts on the cape and he fights crime and he runs into a super villain and he has to defeat that guy.
“This is about a guy like a heavyweight fighter in the 12th round, who is sagging and is covered with sweat and is covered with blood and who has been through the wringer and is wondering ‘what was it all worth?’
“There is something about Batman as both a superhero and a normal man with vulnerabilities and weaknesses like we all have that makes his appeal kind of enduring, because he is not just super, he is also like us.”
This week, Deadline reported that the film is predicted to earn around $350 million worldwide in its opening weekend. This would give it the second biggest pre-summer opening of all time, behind 2015’s Furious 7, which made $397.7 million on its first weekend.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits cinemas on March 25, 2016. It also stars Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Laurence Fishburne.
