Watch First Trailer for Pixar’s Finding Dory

Until the release of Toy Story 3 in 2010, Pixar’s aquatic 2004 adventure Finding Nemo was by far the company’s biggest box office hit. A sequel has been on the cards for many years, and in 2016, Finding Dory finally arrives. Now a first trailer has been released–check it out below:

Finding Dory focuses upon the amnesiac fish of the title, and her quest to be reunited with her family. Ellen DeGeneres returns to voice Dory, as does Albert Brooks, playing the clownfish Merlin, who accompanies Dory on her adventure. The film also stars Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Willem Dafoe, Idris Elba, and Dominic West.

In an interview with the LA Times in 2013, director Andrew Stanton, who also made Finding Nemo, spoke about the movie’s origins, and the dilemmas that come with tackling sequels. “There was polite inquiry from Disney,” he said. “I was always ‘no sequels, no sequels.’ But I had to get on board from a VP standpoint. [Sequels] are part of the necessity of our staying afloat, but we don’t want to have to go there for those reasons. We want to go there creatively.

“It’s more often that somebody fails at a sequel than they succeed. You don’t want it to be derivative or redundant.”

Finding Dory will be released on June 17, 2016.
