Developer Cloud Imperium Games released a new trailer for its PC space simulator Star Citizen, which spoofs Top Gear, the popular British television series about cars.
The new trailer was released alongside update V0.9 to the game’s dogfighting module, Arena Commander. The update adds the racing mode first announced last month, a new cooperative mode, leaderboards, and two new fast ships: the M50 and 350R.
The trailer, presented as a “Galactic Gear” review of the M50, introduces the ship as the Top Gear hosts would introduce a new car on the show. It goes through its technical specifications, details about its manufacturer Origin Jumpworks, and of course puts it through its paces with a test drive. The M50 is made for the game’s racing mode, but can also be used in the rest of Arena Commander’s modes.
Cloud Imperium Games also recently released trailers for the game’s first-person shooter and planetary exploration modules.
Star Citizen is being funded by fans, and has raised more money than any other project—of any kind—to turn to crowdfunding. At the moment, it has raised just over $53 million.
