Watch Star Wars Episode 7 Blu-ray/DVD Teaser

Disney has released a teaser clip from Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey, a documentary about the sci-fi film that will debut at SXSW later this month. The documentary is also included as a bonus feature for The Force Awakens‘ upcoming home video release.

This clip specifically showcases the first table read for The Force Awakens. “Just as a fan of Star Wars, to see them all together was an incredible thrill,” director JJ Abrams says in the clip.

The Force Awakens comes to iTunes and other digital services on April 1 (not an April Fools’ joke) and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD starting April 5.

To hype the release of the documentary, which premieres at SXSW on March 14, Disney brought Stromtroopers and a huge TIE Fighter replica to Austin, Texas. You can check out some images below.

The Cinematic Journey documentary is just one of the bonuses included with the home video version of The Force Awakens. It also comes with the following (descriptions via Disney):

  • Plus Deleted Scenes

In an interview with the Independent newspaper, the film’s editors Mary Jo Markey and Maryann Brandon revealed that fans could expect “seven or eight” deleted scenes. “We have been talking about [the deleted scenes],” Brandon said. “But Disney has mentioned to us that–since they’re going to be DVD treats for viewers–that we should stop talking about them.”

“There aren’t a lot. There’s one with Harrison Ford, there’s one with Rey, but there aren’t a lot.”

“I think there are maybe seven or eight,” added Markey. “I don’t know if that’s a lot. I remember looking at the reel. Actually, I think there are seven.”
