Weekly Recap: Fallout 4 Patch, Xbox One Price Cut, PS4 Outsells Xbox One

Here’s a roundup of the week’s biggest stories and some you might have missed.

Patched Up

Bethesda RPG Fallout 4 got its first official patch these week across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It fixes a number of bugs and other problems. See the full patch notes here.

Back on Top

The PlayStation 4 returned to the top of the charts for November. It outsold the Xbox One (and all other platforms) in the US to claim the title of best-selling hardware for November 2015. The top-selling game, meanwhile, was Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

Xbox One Price Drop

Now through December 26, you can save $50 on any Xbox One bundle. That means you can pick up the new-generation console for as little as $300. Nice! [Full story]

The Sims 4 continues to expand, this week releasing its latest expansion, Get Together. Among other things, it adds a new European-inspired city called Widenburg.

Potter Spinoff!

The first trailer for Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will debut on Tuesday, December 15, Warner Bros. has announced. Watch a teaser for the trailer here.

Bethesda spent more than $14 million on Fallout 4 TV ads in the past few months to hype the game’s release. Only one publisher, Activision, spent more–to promote Call of Duty: Black Ops III. [Full story]

Minecraft Wii U Details

Minecraft for Wii U supports USB keyboards, voice chat, and the Wii U Pro Controller. That’s according to the game’s Japanese eShop page. We’re still waiting to see if that’s confirmed. [Full story]

Winter Is Coming

NCSoft and Carbine have announced a winter event for PC MMO WildStar. Called “Protostar Gala Winterfest Extravaganza,” the event takes place December 16-January 1.

“Winterfest, a seasonal shopping tradition on Planet Nexus, will offer up outrageous deals on coveted in-game items and present players with a multitude of new content including costumes, housing items, public events, daily quests and more!” the developer said.

Free Weekend

Looking for a new game to play this weekend? Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls Online is now available to play completely free on Xbox One and PC all weekend long. Here’s instructions for how to play.

Powerful

Playster Arrives

The new “all-inclusive” media and entertainment platform Playster has launched in the US. Subscribers can now get access to all of the platform’s video games, music, movies, TV, shows, books, and more.
