What Games Were Missing from E3 2015?

Gone Games.


We got to see a lot of big games at this year's E3. Despite a handful confirmed to not be at the show, there was still quite an extensive showing. However, there were games we've known about that simply weren't there. Be it titles we've seen from previous E3 showings or other big events, here's a list of all the games that were missing from E3 2015.

Homefront: The Revolution


Homefront: The Revolution is the upcoming sequel to the THQ's first person shooter series of the same name. The game has had quite a tumultuous development history. It ran into a bit of a trouble when original Homefront IP owner THQ went bankrupt in 2012. The IP was auctioned off to Crytek in 2013, but then sold to Deep Silver not long after. Regardless, Homefront: The Revolution was finally revealed in its current form at E3 2014 and is now in active development by Deep Silver Dambuster Studios.

Dead Island 2


Dead Island 2 was first announced during Sony's E3 press conference. The game is being developed by Yager, the studio behind Spec Ops: The Line. Outside of a gameplay demo at Gamescom 2014, not much has been shown of the upcoming sequel. News of the Dead Island 2 only recently surfaced when it was announced that its release would be delayed to 2016.

Beyond Good and Evil 2


Michel Ancel's sequel to the much beloved Beyond Good & Evil was once again absent from E3 this year. It was originally revealed to be in development back in 2008. But after a continuous cycle of intermittent development, the status of the game remains unclear.

Bravely Second: End Layer


Bravely Second: End Layer is the sequel to the critically acclaimed 3DS Square Enix RPG Bravely Default. Despite being released in Japan on April 23, 2015, the game was not present during this year's E3.

WiLD


WiLD is an online open world action adventure game by Rayman creator Michel Ancel. The title is his first project developed by his own independent studio Wild Sheep. Set in a natural landscape as big as Europe, the most intriguing feature of the game is that you will be able to play as any creature within its world. WiLD was first announced at PlayStation Experience 2014.

Let It Die


Let It Die is a PS4 free-to-play action game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture. It was initially called Lily Bergamo when first announced in 2013, but its name was changed to Let It Die when it was shown during Sony's E3 2014 press conference.

Deep Down


Deep Down is an upcoming free-to-play online action RPG by Capcom for the PS4. Announced at the PlayStation Meeting event back in 2013, the game was supposed to go into its beta in summer 2014 after an initial delay. However, the beta was delayed again into 2015.

Agent


This Rockstar North developed stealth action game was announced as a PS3 exclusive at Sony's E3 2009 press conference. Despite very little being shown of Agent throughout the years, the game was confirmed to still be in development in 2011. Its trademark was even renewed in 2013 as well. However, the current status of Agent remains unknown.

Rime


Rime is an action adventure game with an art style reminiscent to titles like Journey, Ico, and The Legend of Zelda; Wind Waker. It was officially revealed at Gamescom 2013. It currently still doesn't have a proposed release date.

Untitled Visceral Games Star Wars Project


EA's other Star Wars title is being developed by Dead Space studio Visceral Games and ex-Naughty Dog employee Amy Hennig. The game was confirmed to be in development when EA signed a deal with Disney to create Star Wars games under a new license.

The Witness


The Witness is the newest game by Braid developer Jonathan Blow. It was announced in 2009 and is expected to release sometime in 2015 for PS4, PC, and iOS.

Untitled Hazelight Project


An untitled project is being developed by studio called Hazelight, a team that consists of developers who worked on Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Not much else is known about the project outside of a teaser trailer shown at The Game Awards 2014.

New God of War Title


A new God of War title was confirmed to be in development by veteran series contributor Cory Balrog during PlayStation Experience 2014. As of writing, details about the title's premise and release window remain unknown.

Criterion’s New Racing IP


Criterion revealed a new untitled IP during EA's E3 2014 press conference. From its gameplay trailer, the IP is looking to be an extreme sports racing game that features ATVs, helicopters, wingsuits, etc.

Severed


Severed is the newest project by Guacamelee! developer Drink Box Studios. The game is an RPG scheduled to release exclusively on the PS Vita in Spring 2015. It was first seen at PlayStation Experience 2014.

Whore of the Orient


Whore of the Orient is an action-adventure game developed by Team Bondi, the studio behind L.A. Noire. The game was officially announced in 2012, but further information on its development halted when Team Bondi struggled to find other studios to collaborate with. Outside of a couple gameplay leaks in 2013, we still don't know very much about the title. Regardless, Whore of the Orient is currently scheduled for a tentative release in 2015.

Overwatch


Overwatch is an upcoming multiplayer first person shooter by Blizzard. Announced at BlizzCon 2014, the game has received a steady flow of news and gameplay footage ever since. However, it was surprisingly not present or playable at E3 this year.

Inside


Inside is the newest project by Playdead, the creators of Limbo. Announced during last year's Microsoft E3 press conference, the game was originally planned for an early 2015 release. However, it has since been delayed to an unspecified release date.

Project Guard/Project Robot


Project Guard and Project Robot are both prototype games for the Wii U developed by a team led by Shigeru Miyamoto. They were showcased alongside the Star Fox Wii U at E3 2014. While essentially tech demos, the games were unveiled to be entirely new projects for the Wii U.
