As reported by CBR, Gambit was originally scheduled to be released on October 6 this year. However, the loss of original director Rupert Wyatt last September meant a delay in the start of production. In January, it was reported that the film would start shooting in March, with Edge of Tomorrow‘s Doug Liman now directing. Fox’ sci-fi feature Alien: Covenant will move into Gambit’s original slot.

Fox have have also revealed the release dates for another two currently unnamed Marvel projects, namely October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018. It is expected that one of these will be the Deadpool sequel.

Gambit will star Tatum as the card-throwing superhero, alongside Spectre‘s Léa Seydoux. Like Deadpool, Gambit is a character spun off from the X-Men, first appearing in a 1990 issue of The Uncanny X-Men. He appeared briefly in 2009’s critically panned X-Men Origins: Wolverine, portrayed by Taylor Kitsch.
