Patch 2.1 Preview: More Levels and New Rewards

Once StarCraft II Patch 2.1 is in your hands, you’ll find a number of exciting new leveling rewards to help customize your look on Battle.net and in-game. We’re also happy to share that we’ve increased the level cap for each race from 30 to 35 so that those of you who are hungry for more out-of-game progression can get your fix with a six-course meal of new portraits and decals.

New Leveling Rewards

We’ve seen the immense amount of support and enthusiasm that many of you share for the animated “StarCrafts” series, created by Jonathan Burton of Carbot Animations, and we’ve also heard your requests to see more of his content added to StarCraft II. Jonathan visited Blizzard HQ a short time before BlizzCon 2013 and while he was here, we asked him to draw up a few new portraits and decals that we could offer to you in-game. Let’s take a look at the awesome artwork he put together to make this happen.

As you can see above, we’ve got a Carbot-themed portrait and decal for each race, meaning there’s a total of six brand new rewards waiting for you with Patch 2.1. All you’ll have to do to earn them is play games of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm to gain XP and level up. Achieving levels 32 and 35 with Protoss, Terran, or Zerg will respectively award you with the decal and portrait specific to that race. Reach level 35 with each of the three races to collect them all!

First Win of the Day

Alongside the new rewards and increased level cap, we’ve also quadrupled the amount of XP you’ll earn with “First Win of the Day” XP bonuses. Following the patch, your first win of the day with each race will award 100,000 XP so that you can pack even more punch into your StarCraft II play sessions.

We’re always looking for new ways to make leveling in StarCraft II an even more fun and rewarding experience, so we hope you enjoy these “StarCrafts”-themed portraits and decals once we release Patch 2.1. If you haven’t had the chance to check out an episode of StarCrafts yet, or just can’t get enough of Jonathan’s work, you can head to the official Carbot Animations YouTube channel and CarbotAnimations.com to stay up to date with all the latest releases.
