Total War: Warhammer Blood God DLC Available Now, Watch Trailer Here

[Update] Sega has officially announced the Blood for the Blood God pack for Total War: Warhammer, which is available now on Steam.

“Cower as giants chew the heads of hapless soldiers, trolls rip their foes limb from lifeless limb, and the scything tails of dragons tear through units in an explosion of blood and guts,” reads the press release.

“Brand new campaign events serve to encourage slaughter across the world, all to the laughter and delight of The Blood God. Dedicate your wars to him, and bathe the world in crimson.”

Interestingly, Sega has noted that the release of this DLC will likely raise the game’s rating to a Mature (18).

Total War: Warhammer will receive new DLC called “Blood and Gore” in the future. Although developer Creative Assembly hasn’t officially announced the content, a leaked Russian trailer titled “Blood for the Blood God” has provided an early look at it.

The trailer is suitably bloody, showing off the game’s various factions brutally killing each other as a narrator ominously alludes to the unseen Blood God.

“We fight for the Emperor, but the blood we spill serves another. Morr, Lord of Death, keep our souls lest they fall prey to him,” the voice says.

“Beyond the world, he waits atop a throne of skulls. All blood is only borrowed. Once shed, it must return. Blood for the Blood God.”

The Blood God referenced in the trailer is likely to be Khorne, who is also known as the Lord of Skulls. Naturally, he’s a big fan of blood, guts, and mindless slaughter, which explains why there’s so much of it in the video.

As of yet, there aren’t any further details on what the Blood and Gore DLC will include or a release date, but a new Total War: Warhammer update is expected to launch later today. It may be that more information on the DLC is provided alongside it.

Total War: Warhammer sold over 500,000 copies in the three days after its launch, becoming the “fastest-selling Total War title on Steam” ever.

Creative Assembly studio director Tim Heaton said sales at this level make Warhammer a “runaway commercial success.” He also shared that the game “regularly” eclipses 100,000 concurrent players.

GameSpot’s Warhammer review scored the game a 9/10.

“When you’re in the middle of a siege and you’re coordinating an assault with a friend, Total War: Warhammer approaches perfection,” critic Daniel Starkey said. “You’ll be tested on all fronts and asked to manage complex battles with broad, nuanced outcomes. Every system and piece feeds into others, and your choices make all the difference. It’s a triumph of real-time strategy design, and the best the Total War series has ever been.”

Warhammer is the first in a trilogy, but Creative Assembly also has plans for to support the first game with DLC in the months ahead.

Additionally, Creative Assembly is working on this year’s Halo Wars 2 for Xbox One and PC.
