Adventurers, the Regenesis expansion is going live tonight, complete with a major update to Jade Dynasty's graphical engine. In order to run it properly, you'll need to install DirectX.

This'll happen as part of patching, but refer to the handy guide below if you run into any issues, and our Tech Support team is always happy to help.

Regenesis' engine update lays the groundwork for much-improved graphics — just run around the new version of Sunstream to see it, the water is especially updated. In order for this upgrade to work, you'll need to go through the DirectX process when you first patch up, just like when you install other games with good graphics.

When you patch up to the new version, just before it finishes patching, a scroll will pop up, asking you to update DirectX. Just click Confirm, and it'll open the DirectX installer. This installer runs slowly, so please be patient: It can take a couple of minutes on the first step, Initializing. After it finishes Initializing, it'll install the correct version of DirectX for JD. Your patcher will still be open during this, so once DirectX is done, just click Start on the patcher, and you're all set up.

We know that sometimes things go awry, though. If you have a problem while installing DirectX, you can still manually update with the DXSETUP exe. Open your JD folder — you're looking for the element folder, and the DirectX subfolder. On my machine, it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Perfect World Entertainment\Jade Dynasty_en\element\directx.

Once you get in there, run the DXSETUP application. It'll take a little while, but after it's finished installing, you can run the game perfectly fine.

When you're prompted to update DirectX, if you mistakenly click Cancel instead of Confirm, don't worry — you'll end up back on track. When you try to run the game, your system will detect that it needs to install DirectX, and it'll pop up an error message. (The text on this error message is broken, but don't worry.) When you click Okay, which is the only option, it'll bring up the DirectX installer.

The Regenesis expansion is making Jade Dynasty bigger and more beautiful than ever, adventurers. Make sure you update DirectX to get into the brave new world!
